Jon Tigert's Corner Pocket Jazz Band feat. Chelsea Reed
The Corner Pocket Jazz Band was formed back in 2016 when Baltimore swing dance organizer Chiles Vandenbosche hired Jon Tigert to make a band, and he decided to run with it. Built by swing dancers, for swing dancers, the band hails from Baltimore, Maryland where they play regularly at the legendary Mobtown Ballroom as well as for New Columbia Swing, the longest running swing dance in Washington DC. Playing the hits of the 1930's, 40's, and 50s, this small combo Jazz band takes its cues from the sounds of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Jack Teagarden, Sammy Davis Jr, Tennessee Ernie Ford and more. Led by Jon Tigert and a rotating cast of side musicians, the band is often different every night, keeping the music fresh and exciting, and allowing each musician to add their own flavor to each song. Chelsea Reed and the Fairweather Band
Chelsea Reed is a jazz vocalist, arranger, composer, and bandleader living in Philadelphia. In October 2012, she invited a few friends over to play for some dancers in a South Philly living room. Since that fateful day, she's been singing and playing for blues and swing dancing audiences all over the world, adding musicians along the way as the leader of the Fair Weather Band. With five albums and over a decade of touring under their belts, Chelsea Reed and the Fair Weather Band continue to bring the soul of a dance to any show--whether at a jazz club, backroom blues bar, or festival stage. Their 2020 release, Carolina Lullaby showcases original songs steeped in jazz, blues, and folk traditions where Reed’s soaring vocals and swing musicality shine. In 2023, she released The Christmas EP, a collection of swinging holiday standards with her mini big band, the 10 piece orchestra Chelsea Reed and the Fair Weather Nine. Reed’s signature voice lives at the crossroads of barrel house blues, raucous big band swing, and the gems of the Great American Songbook for a true tour of American roots music. Reed and her bandmates draw upon the intensity and heart of the dance floor.
